Why are we seeing more and more “long term beginner lash training?

I think it’s amazing that we’re starting to see more long-term beginner lash training here in Canada. While this has always been common in Europe and Asia, it’s only just starting to catch on in the West. Of course, short training exists everywhere, but more and more lash trainers are recognizing the need for deeper guidance at the very start of a lash journey.

Some people say, “Well, we all did two-day training, and it worked out fine.”
But did it really? I can for sure say it was a long and not so swift journey.

Think back: the countless hours of practice we did on our own, unsupervised, with no one to ask for feedback. Spending five or six hours on those first model sets, only to feel discouraged by the outcome. Yes, we all went through that but it took years of additional courses, endless practice on models, and constant trial and error before we finally reached comfort and expertise.

Now, let’s rewind to the beginning. Imagine if we had the chance to learn under an experienced trainer, someone willing to pour their knowledge and expertise into us from day one. Wouldn’t we all have taken that opportunity in a heartbeat?

This is exactly why lash trainers today are moving toward longer beginner education: because they see the value in prioritizing quality over speed. I’ll admit, I was once someone who offered short-term lash training because that was the norm. Eventually I realized this wasn’t fair for my students.

The truth is, lash extensions are so much more than people make them out to be. When the industry advertises that lash training can be “done in two days,” it sends the message that this delicate, detail-oriented art doesn’t require much time or attention. But anyone who has actually worked in this field knows: you cannot rush greatness.
